The “Short Trip” through Central Colombia is designed for those with only two weeks of vacation to spare, so we have crammed 8 days of paddling into a 10 day tour covering some of Colombia’s best rivers and creeks. The trip begins in Medellin, one of Colombia’s most beautiful cities. We will gather in Medellin during the afternoon or evening before the tour begins, then leave first thing in the morning on day 1 of the trip for the nearby Rio Buey and Rio San Juan. After a few days paddling in the department of Antioquia we will then travel to Tobia, a small typical Colombian pueblo near the Rio Negro, and paddle the Rio Negro and the Rio Tabacal or another creek depending upon the water levels. After Tobia and the Rio Negro we will travel to San Gil, the whitewater capital of Colombia, and the nearby Rio Suarez and Rio Fonce. During the remaining days of the trip we will base out of San Gil and sample the fine selection of rivers and creeks all within an hour or two of San Gil. The tour will then end with a return trip to Medellin. The tentative schedule is below, but may change slightly due to weather, high water, low water, land slides or other unavoidable circumstances.
Please send an email to RSVP. We will request a deposit 90 days before the trip and full payment prior to the trip.
